Wablief? was made with the help of several Bonairian locals that allowed me to get a peek into their lives. Since 2010, Bonaire is a special municipality of the Netherlands and this has lured many Dutch immigrants to the island. These newcomers bring their own culture with them, which is not always easy for the Bonairian residents. I made this film with the help of the Bonairian people that are in the film and many other individuals who helped me gain a better understanding of the island. It invites the viewer to step into Bonairian reality for thirty minutes: the reality that the participants of this project allowed me to see and to record.
