In 2010 Indonesia was the world’s second largest contributor of plastic pollution to the ocean, as a result of illegal waste dumping and lack of proper waste management that consequently created a flow of plastic waste from land into the ocean. “Trash Waves” addresses this prominent plastic pollution problem, specifically in Bali, Indonesia, through the eyes of local surfers, aiming to capture their ongoing battle with plastic pollution and the local Balinese attitudes towards the future of plastic pollution.
Bio

I was always a creative kid and I am really happy that I have been able to find my way back to this and even combine my creative interests with my academic interests during the Visual Ethnography Master’s and my research in Bali, Indonesia. This (plus a lot of surfing and cleaning and recycling plastic) has resulted in my first documentary film: Trash Waves, a project that I am very proud of.
